LD12 Democrats' Reorg - Candidate Nominations
Now's the time to reorganize our local team by electing officers for the 12th Legislative District Democrats for the 2021-2022 term!   To be considered for election at the Saturday, Jan 9, 2021 1:00 pm Zoom reorganization meeting, nominations must be made by completing this form by 11:59pm on Tuesday, Jan 5, 2021.

Any Elected Democratic PCO who lives within the 12th Legislative District or resident of the 12th LD who is a Democrat (and who is nominated by an Elected PCO) may run for office.   Non-PCOs must be nominated by an elected PCO.  Elected PCOs may self-nominate.  Only PCOs are eligible to vote.  Besides providing a short statement (below), each candidate (or nominator) will be permitted to give a short live speech during the Zoom meeting prior to the respective vote.

Note for written short statements:  please submit 500 words or less for the position you seek.  Include information that may assist the PCO voters, who may not know you, in making an informed decision.  Include such things as relevant experience, skills, personal attributes/assets, Democratic Party involvement, political and community activities, DESIRE to be involved as a member of a dynamic, grassroots political organization!

Note for Nominating Speeches on Jan 9 - Chair - 4 minutes or less; Vice Chair, State Committee Members - 3 minutes or less; Secretary and Treasurer - 2 minutes or less (time may be partially allocated to a nominating speaker, but may not exceed the total time allocated)

Note for State Committee Members - 2 candidates will be elected, but they must be of different genders (i.e. 1 male/1 female OR 1 male/1 gender non-binary; OR 1 female/1 gender non-binary).

Reminder: All nominations must be made by 11:59 PM on Tuesday, Jan 5, in order to be included on the ballot.  Elected PCOs and all nominees will be sent a Zoom invitation, rules, and voting instructions prior to the election at 1:00 pm on Saturday, Jan 9, 2021.

Brief description of responsibilities by position:

The Chair shall call and preside over meetings and other administrative business of the organization and shall be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the 12th LD and its Executive Committee.
The Vice Chair shall serve in the absence of the Chair and perform such other duties as assigned by the Chair.  In the event the Chair position is vacated, for any reason, the Vice Chair shall become the Chair and the Executive Committee shall select a new Vice Chair.
The 12th LD State Committee Members (2 of different genders) shall represent the membership of the 12th LD to the Washington State Democratic Central Committee and report to the membership regarding the business of the State Committee.
The Secretary shall keep the minutes of all meetings and all records of the organization except those assigned to other officers.  The Secretary shall be responsible for notifying the members of the time and place of all meetings.
The Treasurer shall have custody of all funds, keep accurate accounts and deposit all monies in a bank designated by the Executive Committee.  The Treasurer shall make all required reports to the Public Disclosure Commission and provide financial reports to the 12th LD.
