Speaker: Laura Kleiman

Laura earned a PhD in Computational and Systems Biology from MIT, was an American Cancer Society Postdoctoral Fellow at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and most recently served as Scientific Research Director in the Department of Data Sciences at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Her expertise is in basic, translational, and clinical cancer research, computational and systems biology, and drug repurposing. She is winner of the MassBio Petri Dish Nonprofit Pitch Challenge and was honored with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Community Service Award. She has given talks at renowned organizations such as the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, European Center of Pharmaceutical Medicine, and Spanish National Cancer Research Center.

Laura founded Cures Within Reach for Cancer, a nonprofit startup rapidly creating new and affordable cancer treatments using AI and repurposed non-cancer generic drugs. Their Oncology Repurposing Engine synthesizes drug repurposing data from scientific literature and real-world evidence in EHRs and patient-provided information, and identifies the most promising repurposed therapies to advance to standard of care for cancer.
