The Programme

Archaeological Survey of India (Patna Circle) jointly with FACES, Patna, is going to present infodrama entitled Shrī Nālandā Mahāvihāra with an objective to educate visitors and students about the history and archaeology of the UNESCO world-heritage site of Nalanda Mahavihara, during the world heritage week (19-25 Nov 2022) on 21 November 2022. This project is a part of an extensive heritage education and awareness campaign of ASI & FACES.

The Infodrama

Shrī Nālandā Mahāvihāra is an infodrama specially prepared for educating people through entertainment in which information regarding the history and archaeology of Nalanda Mahavihara is imparted through dialogues of the characters, and the scenes of the drama. After having watched the full drama the audience learns many facts about the Nalanda Mahavihara, the oldest Residential International University of the world in modern sense of the word 'university'.

Heritage Quiz Competition

The students will watch the infodrama Shrī Nālandā Mahāvihāra and then participate in a Quiz Competition. The questions will be within the limit of the information given through the drama.

This is a ‘Theatre in Education’ programme emphasized in NEP 2020 and in the new NCF, and previously successfully experimented by FACES in various institutions like National Museum, New Delhi, Bihar Museum, Patna, IGNCA, New Delhi, ASI, Patna Circle, ICCR and others.

Prizes

Three trophies of the first, second, and third prizes, and two for consolation prizes will be given to the school teams based on the score of the contest. Every participating student will get a certificate of participation individually. 

Invitation to School and Constitution of School-Team

The school family (teachers, students) and guardians are invited to watch the programme (there will be no entry fee for this programme). But the team representing the school in the Heritage Quiz will comprise of 5 students from class 7 to 10. Other students of the school present there are expected not to aid the contesting team members of their respective schools.    

Mode of the Quiz Competition

Five school teams will participate in the quiz. Different questions will be asked from each team in succession in each round. (That is, there will not be any pass-over of the questions).

10 Points for a right answer and 0 Point will be awarded for wrong answer or no answer.

In case of tie-up after third round between all teams, extra round will be commenced. If tie up is between any two teams, it will be resolved by asking questions to only the teams concerned.

How to Participate?

School teacher/authority will register the school for participating in this programme through online form available on http://www.faces.org.in.  The name of the five students in the school team must be mentioned in the form.

Successfully registered school will get a confirmation letter (Email)

If there is any change in the team member after the registration, the school authority must intimate about it via reply of the registration confirmation mail sent by FACES after the successful registration.

Time-Schedule

Date: 21 November 2022    Time: 11 AM.

Venue: UNESCO World Heritage Site (The Ruins of Ancient Nalanda Mahavihara), Nalanda.

Note: The school team must arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled time of the start of Infodrama so as to accommodate the team and spectators from the respective schools.
