2020-2021 Eberly Writing Studio Application
The Writing Studio seeks enthusiastic undergraduate students from every major to become consultant interns. The internship is the first step in becoming a Writing Studio, writing consultant. Writing consultants help students from across campus with their writing and presentation projects. We provide training, so applicants do not need prior tutoring experience.

TRAINING
To prepare for writing consultant work, students must take “Teaching Practicum in Writing Studio Consulting” (ENGL 490). This 3-credit course is offered every spring semester.
Enrollment in the course is limited to students who have been selected through the application process described below. Applicants are then expected to be available to work at the Studio during the following academic year.

WHO CAN APPLY
Preferred candidates should:
--     have fulfilled the English 101 and 102 university requirement or the equivalent (e.g. English 103, transfer or AP credit, credit by portfolio). Note: We consider relevant experience, so if you have not completed the requirement, you may still apply to become a consultant.  
--     be a strong writer with an interest in improving your skills.
--     enjoy reading and writing with other people.
--     demonstrate strong communication skills.
--     be willing to participate in ongoing tutor education and evaluation.
--     work on various outreach projects including (social media content and WVU and Morgantown area workshops).

The movies of the “Handmaids Tale” and “Boyz n the Hood” let the world know how different worlds can repress marginal groups.  Both films portray systems that put one group against the other.  They show specific characters as lower class or underclass who constantly hurt themselves and others.  While the other people enjoy power and keep people down.   *
