Application for Participation on Sioux Falls School District K12 Social Studies Curriculum Study
Thank you for your interest in serving on the K12 Social Studies Steering Committee. 

The Steering Committee includes at least three teachers and one administrator from each instructional level, teachers and administrators from Special Services, EL teachers, school support personnel, parents/guardians, and community members. The Steering Committee reviews the current program strengths and weaknesses based on an analysis of data over time, develops the content area mission statement/philosophy aligned with the District mission statement, reviews State standards for the content area, reviews current curriculum documents from successful districts, studies current trends and best practices in the content area, monitors K-12 alignment and transitions between instructional levels, and provides general guidance and direction to the Instructional Level Subcommittees.

Purpose of Committee
The K-12 Social Studies Curriculum Committee is a broad-based committee that will meet over the course of two years to:
--Review current program strengths and weaknesses
--Reviews and studies current curriculum documents and trends/best practices in K-12 Social Studies
--Develop a K-12 Social Studies vision, mission and goal statements
--Review State Standards for K-12 Social Studies
--Provide guidance to the Instructional Level Subcommittees
--Monitor K-12 alignment and transitions between instructional levels
Committee Membership
The K-12 Steering Committee is a 2 year term and meets approximately 3 times per year.

The Steering Committee includes at least three teachers and one administrator from each instructional level, teachers and administrators from Special Services, EL teachers, school support personnel, parents/guardians, and community members.
