Family Events
Keep families engaged and connected through free or low-cost events! Some ideas: family scavenger hunts, paint night, dances, bingo, Trunk or Treat, move night, skate night, etc. Depending on ideas presented, we can break it up into smaller committees to execute the events.Field Day
Takes place in the spring! Chair assists P.E. Teacher, organizes lunch options with admin, and organizes volunteers. (Day of volunteer sign up will be sent at a later date.)Fun Run
Our biggest fundraiser of the year! Students raise money and receive prizes for reaching certain fundraising levels. After 3 weeks of fundraising, the Fun Run event takes place outdoors at school in September. Examples: Soliciting sponsors, Coordinate t-shirt orders for students, staff, volunteers. Notify D47 schools of the scholarship opportunity for seniors. Create a review board and selection committee to award one senior at the end of the year with a scholarship.
Glacier Ridge Bricks
Promote the bricks a few times throughout the
year. Manage the orders and brick
placement.
Glacier Ridge Eats Out (GREO)
Monthly event where we partner with local restaurants to sponsor a GREO night. GR PTA receives a percentage of the profits. Plan, promote, and implement throughout the year.
Glacier Ridge Reads
Plan evening literacy events for families to come together. Partners closely with Dr. Gruper.
Grants
Reach out to sponsors that offer grants to school/PTAs, such as OfficeMax, Walmart, Costco, etc.Plant Sale
Work with a local nursery on this fundraising event in the spring. Once confirmed, chair will send out order forms, collect forms and money, send in all information needed to local nursery, set up the pickup date, and help distribute the plants at GR one afternoon after school.
Polar Bear Publishers
Organize a group of students interested in writing and publishing a story.Pre-K Graduation
Organize and plan the end of year Pre-K graduation.
Reading Incentive
Begins in December and continues over winter break, through January/February. Plan/implement the incentives that encourage students to read at home.Roaring Runners
Students can participate by running laps during recess. They will earn charms for a necklace for miles ran. Need to organize the documentation of laps, charm awards, and volunteer sign ups.Staff Appreciation
Plan/organize small gestures for the staff throughout the year. Ideas include stock the lounge events, meals during conferences, recognizing celebration days for various roles, and the biggest event – Teacher Appreciation Week.
Spirit Wear
Promote our online spirit wear store.TAP Room
Teacher Assistance Program helps teachers with copying/laminating/cutting, organizing the book room, etc. Chair will organize the volunteer schedule. Availability Needed for those who help: 1-2 hours a week during the school day.Wee Deliver
Chair works with Dr. Gruper on our student internal mail delivery system. This is a great opportunity to help our students love reading and writing! Availability Needed: 1-2 hours a week during the school day.Winter Carnival
Indoor event at GR that can include but not limited to carnival games, face painting, inflatables, cake walk, karaoke, BINGO, and prizes. Potentially adding an auction this year! (Day of volunteer sign up will be sent at a later date.)
