Childcare Subsidy Application for ICAR 2020 (July 6-10, 2020 Seattle, Washington, USA): Objective: To encourage and enable plant scientists with small children, and demonstrated financial need, to attend this meeting, and remove as many barriers to their participation as possible, the North American Arabidopsis Steering Committee (NAASC) will help defray childcare costs for up to 10 full-time plant scientists attending ICAR 2020.
*Estimated allocated awards, given as reimbursements, will be $500 USD each.

Eligibility Criterion 1 *

I am a full-time plant scientist (student, postdoc, faculty, researcher, teacher, educator, etc.)

I am NOT a full-time plant scientist (thus, I'm ineligible for this subsidy)

Eligibility Criterion 2 *

I have a child whose needs for me, and my own financial need, present significant barriers to my full participation in ICAR 2020, i.e.: without a childcare subsidy, I would be unable (or find it extremely challenging) to participate in ICAR 2020

1+ of these statements is true (thus I'm ineligible for this subsidy): I don't have a child whose needs present a barrier to my participation; I do not have significant financial need for childcare that presents a barrier to my participation.

Eligibility Criterion 3 *

If I'm awarded this subsidy, I will submit a research abstract and present a poster or talk at ICAR 2020 as a requirement of this award (March 31: oral consideration deadline; May 18: poster deadline)

I will not submit and present an abstract to ICAR if I'm awarded this subsidy (this will disqualify you)

Childcare subsidies will help defray costs of parent(s) of young children to attend ICAR 2020 by enabling hiring childcare and/or bringing a family member with you to help with childcare. Subsidies are estimated to be $500 USD maximum and given as reimbursements. Since these awards by themselves will be insufficient to pay for the entire meeting other funds must be available to applicants to fully cover meeting costs. Award notification will be emailed to all applicants by March 17, before the March 31 early fee registration deadline. Please indicate that you understand these limitations. *

I understand these childcare subsidies won't cover all conference costs and I must fund other conference costs.
