2020 TNT - Storyteller Application
Tuesday Night Tales (TNT): Gather 'round the campfire at Strange Days Brewing, as great tales of adventures are dug up from the depths of our storytellers' memories and pulled straight from pages of great authors. Each themed night will also feature brilliantly paired beers and books. Put it on your calendar now! It's the last Tuesday night every month!

Co-hosted by REI, Strange Days Brewing, Art Adventure Club and Young Friends of the Kansas City Library.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a TNT Storyteller! We want to know more about you & your story, so that we may curate a rad storytelling experience for you & all attendees. Please make sure to read ALL of the guidelines, ensuring that you, your story and your storytelling style will be a good fit for our vision of TNT. If you have any questions about TNT, please don't hesitate to reach out to Alexis & Kat, with the Art Adventure Club by emailing artadventureclubkc @ gmail.com .

GUIDELINES:

General:
*Tales must be 15 minutes or less.
*Tales must fit within the TNT overall theme of outdoor adventure tales AND fit the theme of the night.
*Non-fiction, somewhat-fiction and fiction stories are welcomed.
*You are welcome to submit multiple tales for each theme, however please submit separate applications for each story.
*Applications will be continuously accepted.
*Storytellers will be contacted for specific themed events at least 3 weeks before the event.
*The TNT team will be promoting the series to their usual groups. But this is a community effort. Our expectation is that each storyteller will also do their part in promoting the event.
*TNT is designed for an adult audience, and it is held in a family-friendly location. Please keep your storytelling PG-13 or under, but there is no need to plan it for a kid-centric audience.
*As there may be PG-13 content during this event, minors (attendees & storytellers) must be accompanied by an adult, for the duriation of their time at the event.
*Storytellers may speak from a seated or standing position.
*Storytellers may read from a script (reader's theater style) or extemporaneously.
*Decisions will be made based on the storyteller, the tale, how well they fit the theme and how well they will fit with the others in the line up for that night.

Who & what we are looking for:
*Plain & simple, we want great storytellers, telling great tales of adventures in the outdoors. We recognize that there is a wide spectrum of great storytellers out there, telling tales around the campfire, at the bar, on a stage, on a podcast, writing them on a blog, in a zine, in a book. Professionals and hobbyiest alike are welcome to apply for TNT!
*Storytellers from everywhere are welcome to apply, however we plan to lean more heavily on locals & those from the middle of America.
*We are especially interested in stories that feature adventures in the MO/KS/NE/IA/AR/OK area of North America, as it is a sorely underrepresented area in modern entertainment & outdoor recreation.
*Diversity is important to us. However, diversity is more than just color of your skin. We hope our storytellers and their stories come from a wide range of ages and gender, diverse cultural backgrounds; and for personal tales, showcase your own personal perspective within the story.

The fine print:
*If you are not the author of the piece, you are responsible for obtaining the rights to publically perform it & for your performance to be recorded & distributed.
*TNT hosts reserve the right to record & publish the event on the internet in some format.
*You will be required to sign a form to participate.

The process:
1) You apply. Then turn to your friend or family member & ask for a pat on the back! You deserve it!
2) The TNT team will review applications & reach out to potential storytellers no later than 4 weeks before the event via email.
3) You respond to the acceptance email within a week of the acceptance email being sent, to accept the offer (or decline it, but let's assume you accept it in this scenario). ^
4) The TNT team will add you to the lineup for the event.
5) You & the TNT team promote the event.
^Please note: if we do not hear back from you by the deadline on your email, you will not be included in the event line-up. If you have questions or concerns about this policy, please just politely reach out to the TNT team.
6) You & everyone else involved that night, show up at Strange Days Brewing at 5:15pm on the evening of the event, ready to go.
7) We all have a quick team huddle to get all of our ducks in a row, answer any questions, greet guests, order a drink & food, then settle in for a great night of storytelling!
