They will learn to sing in harmony and will learn to understand music through the experience of it, using the Kodály philosophy of music education. They will also make wonderful friends brought together through a common love of music and singing. Finally they will be given the opportunities to perform together, with our adult choir at Christmas, and our older children will perform alongside the Belfast Philharmonic Youth Choir, Dublin Youth Choir and the Sperrin Kids Choir, as part of the Belfast Children’s Festival 2023.

Terms & Conditions

Photography and recording

From time to time Larne Choral Society may take photographs or short video of the children participating in the singing activities with the choir. These will be used for publicity material and on our website. Young people who appear on the website or in any publicity material will not be identified by name unless specific permission has been granted for this. If the Society intends to create more substantial video material for release, such as online concerts, this will be communicated in advance. Occasionally broadcasters may film the choirs and such broadcast images remain the property of the broadcaster. Only Larne Choral staff or someone designated by the Society as an authorised photographer/videographer can take photographs or video at any event.

You give permission for your child to be photographed and recorded during their time in Larne Choral Youth Choir.

Data Protection

The personal information you supply to Larne Choral Society is required by us to maintain our records, communicate with parents, collect fees and be aware of medical conditions.  These records are only for the Society’s use and will not be shared with any third parties or processed for any other purpose without your consent. Anonymised and collated data on member demographics may be used to provide information to funders including the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. Our use of the personal data we collect from you complies with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Performance licences are sometimes required for children participating in performances - details are submitted to EANI for the acquisition of these licences and are provided only with parental permission.

Choir Membership

Choir members are expected to attend all rehearsals, classes and concerts. Parents should inform us in advance if their child is unable to attend due to illness or other reasons.  If your child is absent for more than three rehearsals, with no explanation or advance notice, the Choir Director may ask your child not to take part in a performance if it is felt they do not know the music.

All choir members should be brought to rehearsals and collected afterwards by a parent/guardian. Children will not be permitted to leave the building unless accompanied by a parent or other known adult.

Choir membership can be cancelled at any time but subscription fees are non-refundable and direct debit payments will continue until complete. In the event of a choir rehearsal being cancelled, for example due to bad weather conditions, refunds will not be issued.

For online sessions, all classes will be supervised by at least two adults who have undergone Access NI disclosures. Children should use devices to access the internet with supervision, as far as possible in a room with an adult from their household who can assist them if required.

I have read all the above and agree to the terms and conditions. *
