Student Cafeteria Expectation Contract
Cafeteria Values
-The cafeteria is a safe place for you to eat your lunch.
-When you eat lunch at school, it should be pleasant and comfortable.
Cafeteria Rules
-We will enter the cafeteria silently, with an independent reading book in hand, and walk directly to our assigned class table.
-Lunch is a school period and we will arrive on time. We will ask for a late pass if necessary.
-We will remain in our seats until our table is called to line up. We can only go through the lunch line one time- with our homeroom class.
-We will talk to our friends from other classes in the schoolyard; we will not visit other class lunch tables to maintain a safe, pleasant, and comfortable lunch environment.
-We will raise our hands for permission from a supervisor if we need to get out of our seats. Our agenda book serves as our pass and must be signed if we need to leave the cafeteria.
-The cafeteria is a place to whisper; it is not a place to yell, scream, or whistle.
-Food is for eating!
-After eating, we must clear our lunch space and under the table. If we see an excessive amount of mess, we will pitch-in when cleaning up to maintain a safe, pleasant, and comfortable lunch.
-We will always walk in the cafeteria. Running will make the cafeteria unsafe.
-If we have a conflict with another student, we will speak to the dean, assistant principal, or another adult immediately.
-Learning is our priority. Electronic devices should be away in our backpacks. If they are seen, or heard they will be confiscated, and my parent/guardian must come to school to pick it up.
-Handballs can only be seen in the schoolyard, or they will be confiscated.
-The snack machine is a reward for best cafeteria behavior. We will not depend on them for our lunch meal.
Consequence Options
If I do not follow the cafeteria rules, one or more of the following consequences will apply:
-I will receive a verbal warning.
-A letter will be sent home or a phone call will be made to my parents/guardians regarding my misbehavior.
-My lunch table will be reassigned for a certain period of time/days at the discretion of the
assistant principal or dean.
I read the Cafeteria School Contract with my parents/guardians at home, and will do my best to cooperate, which will help to maintain a safe, pleasant, and comfortable lunch period for Myra S. Barnes, I.S. 24.
