Campus Tour/Open House Reservation Form
We love Jesus, we love our students, and we would love to meet YOU and share more about our wonderful school! In a world of trials and tribulations, we hold fast to our God and his promises, and seek to teach our students to write his word on their hearts, and to profess and LIVE out their lives walking with the Lord. We seek to train up thinkers and doers - people who not only KNOW information, but what they ought to DO with it. That often means allowing a student to struggle and wrestle with material and ideas and not rescuing them from challenge. In the end, these young people become  prepared to face and tackle hard things to respond and rise up to the calling God has on their lives.

Our school operates in "studios," or buildings/wings, for each division, with separate studios for elementary, middle school, and high school students. Within these studios, students experience student-led, teacher-facilitated, individual, and collaborative learning with a goal of mastery of learning, not simply proficiency. Technology is utilized intentionally and regularly for classwork, research, and assignments, however, it's use is also healthily balanced with "pen and paper" methods, events, field trips/travel, discussions, and other valuable tools. Ultimately, we approach every learning opportunity, every project, every day, from a boldly and distinctly Christian worldview.

We strongly encourage potential families to read or listen to the following titles before coming for a tour, as these two books will help you understand our model and methodology, and thus help you determine whether OCS would be the school home you are seeking:

Courage to Grow,* by Laura Sandefer

The Art of Self-Directed Learning,* by Blake Boles
Christlike Parenting: Taking the Pain Out of Parenting* by Dr. Glenn Latham. This work is an equipping tool for parents, and anyone who works with people in any way!

*All new official parents at OCS are asked to read/listen to these three books as part of our educational partnership.

OCS utilizes a unique educational model that is increasingly learner- and growth-driven and allows self-pacing in core skills so students can learn and progress as quickly as they desire. This is also means students may spend more time in some areas that they need to work on a little longer. In addition to these and other more traditional teaching methods, we incorporate frequent multi-age collaboration, learning and mentorship; a plethora of engagement and team building activities; and Socratic and Harkness discussion models to truly cultivate higher order thinking, problem solving skills, and grit. We balance technology with face-to-face communication and place a strong emphasis on "soft skills," public speaking, and professional presentation skills. Students in lower grades have very little homework, as students spend 7 hours a day learning and need time off with their families in the afternoons and evenings. Students in middle and high school grades may have very little homework or a lot of homework, depending on how focused they work during school hours. At the heart of our mission is a desire to do all things as unto the Lord - always giving 100% - and imparting this ideal to our students. *
