Thank you for helping our school community! We currently have the following volunteer opportunities, and need your assistance. Any of these positions (with the exception of the board roles) can be shared between two or more co-chairs. Based on interest, we will contact you to discuss the roles further.

We are hoping to fill two vacancies on the PTSO board. This would be a 2-year term, and time commitment varies throughout the year (and on your interest level). We are seeking individuals to serve as Vice President and Treasurer. While things are up in the air because of Covid-19, we would like to hold elections at the beginning of the fall. Please indicate your interest in the following positions.

Vice-President. This position aids the president as needed and serves as backup when the president is not able to participate.

Treasurer. The treasurer tracks incoming and outgoing PTSO funds, prepares tax returns, provides donor receipts, distributes corporate matching funds to the school booster clubs.

Used Uniform Sales

This individual would be responsible for selling used uniforms at orientation and book pickup events on campus at the beginning of fall semester. You would also be responsible for washing any new inventory we receive from family donations. Ideally this would be someone who could store several bins of clothing at their home, although alternative storage can be arranged. Time commitment is roughly 4-6 hours at the beginning of fall semester, and then occasional requests for used uniforms throughout the year (less than 1 hour/month)

Teacher Appreciation Chair

This person would be in charge of the 'adopt a teacher' program, and the catered teacher appreciation luncheons held in December in May.

Ice Cream Socials Chair

This position schedules the ice cream socials (usually 2-3/year) with the school's student life team, and is responsible for arranging purchases and setup, and coordinating volunteers, for this very fun activity over the lunch hour. Time commitment is ~ 2 hours, 2-3x/year.

Fall Family BBQ Chair

If you're a 'party person', this is a great position for you. Work closely with the board to organize the catered fall family BBQ held in September. You would run a team for all aspects of the event: slide show, student club tables, guest speakers, games, raffle prizes, etc..

Carnival Coordinator

This person would work closely with the student life team on campus to provide PTSO support to school carnivals, held 1-2x/semester during the school day. Coordinate volunteers, arrange for supplies (cotton candy and popcorn mixes, bouncy house rentals etc.).

Grade Level Representative

These individuals would organize family events (think bowling night, roller skating, etc.) for their grade once a semester. Our goal is to provide families from a particular grade more opportunity to get to know each other.

UPA Night Out Committee

These individuals would organize school-wide outings 1-2x/semester. You would arrange for a group bloc of tickets at a fine arts or sporting event. Commitment would be ideally less than 1 hour/month.

Workplace in the Classroom

We are always looking for ways to bring expertise from the real world into the classroom! We're looking for people who would coordinate classroom-to-community experiences, either through arranging guest speakers from our parent community, to corporate partnerships for classroom projects.

Club Liaison

This person works closely with the student life staff, to provide student clubs with support in order to meet their goals. This is a larger afternoon time commitment in the fall semester as clubs are ramping up (perhaps 1-4 hours/week in late August & September), but is usually less than 1 hour/month after that.

Lost & Found

This position collects lost and found items from the campus classrooms 1x/month, and coordinates with the front office staff to set up tables in an effort to reconnect our kids with their eternally missing water bottles (and jackets, and calculators, and keychains, and earrings, and ....). Time commitment is usually ~ 1 hour/month.
