Plastic in the Riverside Cafeteria
Lisa and Lexi are grade 11 and 12 students in Ms. Chin's Socials 11 Explorations class. Our current project is to make a change on an issue we are passionate about. We have chosen to cut down on the use of single-use plastic at Riverside by trying to change the plastic utensils in the cafeteria to bamboo, a more biodegradable option. Lisa and Lexi would appreciate it if you would fill out our survey to help us reduce plastic waste at Riverside.

Did you know plastic utensils could cause harm to your health? *
Plastic utensils can cause harm to your health in a variety of ways.
Plastic utensils contain many chemicals that you can be exposed to when the utensil is under heat. (For example, eating hot food with a plastic utensil, the heat from the food heats the utensil.) The harm caused by eating with plastic utensils affects both children and adults equally. A higher risk of cancer to the liver and breasts, a higher risk of hormonal imbalances, and low sperm count, and a higher risk of kidney stones are all risks associated with eating with plastic utensils.
Did you know that single use plastic can cause harm to the environment? *
Thank you for your time, and help.
