2021 Breaking Barriers Through Chemistry Virtual Conference
Topic: 2021 BBTC Virtual Conference
When: August 2 to August 6. See below for full schedule.

Description: The goal of this inaugural conference is to bring together professors from all areas of chemistry to establish, strengthen, and promote research collaborations between institutions in Mexico, United States, and Europe.

Unique to this inaugural webinar/conference is a major focus on :
1) Showcasing the academic journey of leading scientists from Latin America;
2) Providing advice and highlight research opportunities to the next generation of chemists; and
3) Establish new research collaborations among teams of scientists from diverse expertise

Overall, we expect that students from all levels will hear learn about existing programs/fellowships that supported international research opportunities and help pave the way for leading scientists to establish unique research programs.

Social Hour: In addition, this conference will provide a unique opportunity for all students, postdocs, and faculty to socialize with all of the speakers during the daily social hour to discuss potential research opportunities and collaborations. As such, we encourage you to attend to all sessions of the conference and to participate in the virtual social hour (held via gather.town) to interact with the speakers. Upon registration, participants will receive details and link to the social event via the email you provide.

The social event will use gather.town as an interactive platform to talk one-on-one or in small groups to all speakers and other participants. The goal of this social hour is to 1) network, 2) learn in more detail about research opportunities, and 3) provide a space to initiate potential new research collaborations among chemists with diverse expertise.

Overall, this virtual conference, sponsor by Texas A&M and Thieme Chemistry, will be a prelude for the annual in-person rotating meetings hosted in Mexico and United States (i.e., Mexico City in 2022, Texas A&M in 2023, Mexico 2024, etc.). All attendees to the webinar will be automatically invited and registered to the in-person conference to be held in Mexico City in 2022.
