The Learning Disabilities Association of London Region (LDALR) is a charitable, not-for-profit agency that serves the City of London as well as Middlesex, Elgin and Oxford counties. Through program offerings, individual coaching, advocacy and community resources, the LDALR provides the ongoing strategies and accommodations for children and youth with LD/ADHD.  We also provide support for parents of students with LD/ADHD.

OPPORTUNITIES for Winter2024 Season - Programs for Children & Youth
All tutor/mentors will be responsible for promoting a positive outlook by embedding mindfulness techniques.
  1. Academic Tutor - Provide 1:1 sessions assisting with homework, extra instruction, practice with academic subjects or assisting students in areas of executive functioning skills.
  2. Essay Writing Workshop – Provide 1:1 sessions assisting students to learn or build upon their skills/strategies to the essay writing process; types of essays; understand a rubric; steps to the writing process; use of graphic organizers; researching and note taking, and more.
  3. Read-Up Express - Provide 1:1 help for students to improve reading skills; focusing on phonological awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension skills.
  4. Summer Camp Counsellors – Provide assistance to the Camp Facilitator delivery of camp days, material and activities. You will also oversee small groups as a camp mentor and assist them with fun projects, task completion, field trip outings of daily recreation at local park, kickboxing and swimming. Your choice of week (see below) 8:20am to 4:00pm. Hours depends on # of days for camp week - between 24 to 40 hours of volunteer time.
  5. Group Mentor - YOUnique Program -  Provide mentorship to our group of students attending this program.

Delivery Format for 

Spring Program Tutor/Mentors:  
1. Group Mentor (YOUnique Program in April):  100% IN-PERSON Mondays at LDA Centre London
2. Tutoring (May/Jun): 100% ONLINE Virtual Synchronous Learning

Summer Camp Counsellor (July/August): 
1. 100% IN-PERSON at LDA Centre London 8:20am-4:00pm

AUTHORIZATION FOR PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEO
Student/Tutor photos or video may be posted online on the LDA-LR website or Facebook to display particular events or programming activities. Photos of large groups or action photos where students/tutors cannot be identified may be posted without parental permission. Personal information will not be disclosed at any time. Our media sites include links to sources that include articles, photos and videos of LDA London Region’s programs, activities or events. I hereby authorize that the Learning Disability Association – London Region can take photographs of me for the purpose of documenting programming and activities. VULNERABLE SCREENING CHECK
All Volunteers are required to have an up-to-date Vulnerable Screening Check on file at LDA-LR. Please contact our Program and Volunteer Coordinator for more information and/or to obtain an LDA-LR form letter that is required in order to apply for one with Police Services, RCMP or OPP.  
CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT
I agree to keep in strict confidence all information I am privy to regarding all clients, staff and associates of the Learning Disabilities Association. I will not engage in discussion of cases or clients within or outside the centre, except as required and appropriate in the carrying out of the business of the Association. I agree not to remove any confidential written material of any kind from the premises of LDA-LR unless under express orders to do so.
