2024 Adult BWCA Trip
June 24-28, 2024

We're excited to offer a summer trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area for adults this summer!

The plan is to drive north to Grand Marais on Monday, June 24. We will stop for lunch in or around Duluth, continue driving to Grand Marais, and spend the night at either a nearby campground or local church. We can enjoy each other's company and dinner in town!

We have reserved a permit for launching canoes on East Bearskin Lake June 25 and exiting June 28 on Clearwater Lake. This may be a new adventure for many and there will be lots of opportunity for fun, learning, reflecting, and adventure along the way.

After launching early Tuesday morning, we'll paddle in a couple of lakes, portage, and set up camp. We will spend 3 nights in the one location but there will be time to paddle, explore, and fish on other lakes. We will exit early Friday morning and travel home. We will stop somewhere for lunch on the way home.

A more detailed packing list will be provided this spring as we start to make our preparations for equipment and canoes. We will ask church members for equipment to borrow and rent our canoes from Clearwater Outfitters (and any other camping essentials).

Most meals will be provided. Money will be needed for meals while traveling to and from Grand Marais.

The cost of trip is not settled at this time, but will be between $150-$200 based upon transportation and the equipment that needs to be rented. First Lutheran will maintain a financial account for our trip.

Please include any questions in the sign-up you may have or if you would like to talk more about the trip before signing up you can reach out to Mark Szybnski at markszybnski@gmail.com or 507-380-9180.

A meeting will be scheduled later in April or May. SPACE IS LIMITED, but is OPEN TO ALL.
