Millennium STEM Alberta 2021 Application
At Millennium, we believe that Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) play an important role no matter which field you choose to pursue. We work with the goal to empower youth through engagement and education in STEM and to emphasize the importance of technology across different careers. Through hosting conferences, workshops and networking events, Millennium strives to promote gender equity in STEM by connecting all students with opportunities to explore, learn, and innovate.

This fall we are recruiting general members, executives in-training (who will transition into an executive in Feb/22), and high school ambassadors. All positions are open to high school and university students (except for ambassadors, which is exclusive to high school students). We are excited to have you apply to be a part of this amazing initiative! Please note that we may have a mix of virtual and in-person activities. DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 18, 2021 (11:59PM MST)
General and Executive Positions
Commitment:

1. Attend 1 General meeting per month
2. Attend 1 Board meeting biweekly or as needed
3. For executives/in-training: attend 1 executive meeting biweekly
3. Attend MSA events

Each member's role is specific to their board. Each board consists of an executive (vice-president) and general member (representative). The boards are as follows:

LOGISTICS BOARD
In coordination with other members of the Logistics Board:
1. Scheduling events, booking venues/equipment and planning delegate movement by creating logistics for events.
2. Ensuring that events run smoothly the day of.
3. Collaborating with the Networking and Outreach boards to prepare speakers and organize events effectively.

OUTREACH BOARD
In coordination with other members of the Outreach Board:
1. Contacting and selecting appropriate workshop speakers and keynote speakers.
2. Collaborate with the Logistic and Networking boards to determine where speakers fit in with the schedule.
3. Must ensure that speakers/workshop presenters are informed and prepared.
4. Display respect and effective communication with all partners.

FINANCE & SPONSORSHIP BOARD
In coordination with other members of the Finance & Sponsorship Board:
1. Creating sponsorship-related materials and contacting/meeting with potential sponsors.
2. Applying for grants and finding other sources of funding.
3. Overseeing the budget and other finance-related tasks as assigned.

COMMUNICATIONS BOARD
In coordination with other members of the Communications Board:
1. Marketing all of Millennium’s events including recruitment and formulating new strategies to expand Millennium externally.
2. Maintaining Millennium’s social media presence through active marketing in various mediums and organizing monthly Spotlight Series posts. This includes Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Reddit.
3. Curate bi-monthly newsletters to send out as well as update newsletter receivers regularly

CONTENT CREATION BOARD (experience in graphic design is strongly encouraged)
In coordination with other members of the Communications Board:
1. Designing and creating promotional material like posters, social media designs, and print materials for recruitment and events.
2. Creating scientific content for platforms such as Instagram Posts and Reels, TikToks, etc.
3. Curate STEM related content from numerous sources

NETWORKING BOARD (there are no general member positions for the networking board)
1. Conceptualize, plan, and run networking events.
2. Lead the ambassador program.
3. Assist other boards as needed.

IT MANAGER (experience in website development is strongly encouraged)
1. Developing our current website and maintaining updates.
2. Collaborating with the Communications board for advertising upcoming events.
Ambassador Program

The Ambassador Program is open for high school students only. Each school can have a maximum of two ambassadors. The goal of this program is to provide diverse leadership opportunities for students, allow them to experience MSA activities and represent their high school. This is a perfect role for someone who wants to gain experience in a club, is curious about STEM, and wants to share their curiosities with others.
Ambassador responsibilities are as follows:

1. Advertise MSA events and fundraisers in your high school
2. With the support of MSA’s networking board, be a leader in breakout room workshops at various events
3. Work with MSA’s networking board to organize an MSA event
4. Ambassadors also have the opportunity to join an executive board (as described in the previous section) to further involve themselves in MSA operations.
