YOU ARE COMPLETING THIS FORM TO BE OFFICIALLY ENROLLED AS A CAST MEMBER OF THE AFRICAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL 2024 WITH NGOMA Y'AFRICA CULTURAL CENTER. The African Heritage Festival 2024 is our annual cultural celebration to showcase our African heritage to highlight the diversity and values of the African continent through storytelling, music, dance, poetry, art, and crafts. It is FREE to the general public. You can support local businesses and entrepreneurs featuring vendors across food, fashion, beauty, wellness, design, arts, crafts & more.
WHAT HAPPENS AT AUDITIONS?Auditions will be LIVE (in person) or ONLINE (via ZOOM) in front of a panel of judges on Friday, April 5th, 2024. You may submit a prerecorded video before Friday, April 5th at 12 noon if you can't audition live. You will have up to 2 minutes to perform. However, judges may stop you at any time.
The panel of judges will score each act on a scale of 1-10 based on the following criteria: showmanship, creativity, and stage presence. No profanity, vulgar, or explicit lyrics will be allowed; the performance must be clean and family-friendly! Violation of this rule will exclude you from continuing your audition.
Parents or guardians must be present with applicants under 18 years old and sign a consent form. We have a youth group that will be showcase African culture through Arts & Crafts and Dance meeting every Friday in April and May from 6-7 pm.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE AUDITIONS?Those selected to perform at the African Heritage Festival 2023 will be notified of acceptance via email by Wednesday, April 10th. Weekly rehearsals will start on Friday, April 12th, 2024 until May 31st, 2024.
