BARI Aging rodent questionnaire
The Bakar Aging Research Institute (BARI) aims to transform the current landscape of aging research at UCSF by eliminating major obstacles that obstruct development of molecular, cellular and organismal-based research strategies.

In particular, aging research in rodent models has been greatly hindered by availability of aging animals, lack of standardized in vivo functional analysis, and limited options for cross laboratory multi-tissue investigations. The BARI is in the process of establishing infrastructure for two rodent colonies: an aging mouse colony and a Naked Mole rat (NMR) colony. Through these resources we hope to provide the necessary bridge to conduct large scale multi-laboratory long-term investigations never before possible at UCSF.

To best develop these resources, we need to know your current and future needs. Please take a few minutes to answer the questions below on aging mice (section 1) and naked mole-rats (section 2). You may skip to the section relevant to your interests.

What are your research questions related to aging?
If you will only need specific organs, or DNA/RNA, or protein from specific tissues, can you please list
Do you need a specific sex of aging mice?
Please indicate the age range(s) that would be relevant to your studies:
What manipulations, procedures and/or interventions might you want to undertake on aging mice?
What genetic backgrounds are needed for your studies, and do you have a need to age individual transgenic mouse lines?
How many aging mice are needed per study in your lab, and how often are these studies conducted?
