HonorsX brings together an interdisciplinary community of students, faculty and partners from industry, government and nonprofit sectors to wield the power of interdisciplinary thinking to propose solutions to our most pressing societal issues. The theme for AY 23/24 is “Who are we 2030? Envisioning Sustainable Societies.”
On May 1st, five teams of students who has been working together all year will present their final sustainability initiatives on topics ranging from transportation, access to high quality food and water, building public support for sustainability, improving access to public green spaces, and urban greening. Each group will identify and invite stakeholders with specific “asks” to advance their sustainability goals.
In the spirit of building a strong, interdisciplinary community of practice, we will be joined by middle and high school students from East Side Union High School District as they share the results of community action research to promote climate hope via social media.
Attendees will be asked to provide feedback to our teams on the following criteria and nominate presentations for awards based on:
- Clear articulation of a sustainability problem, situated within a larger global context.
- Integration of original research as well as expert input.
- Articulation of a detailed theory of action.
- Identification of stakeholders with a specific action item for stakeholders to follow.
- Articulation of ethical ramifications of work.
