Selma City Schools will begin the implementation of Phase III of our Return to Excellence Plan beginning the second semester on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, if it is safe to do so. The district will continue to monitor the daily number of reported, positive COVID-19 cases in the Selma-Dallas County areas as reported by public health officials. If safe to do so, Phase III will consist of offering virtual and in-person learning instructional options. Parents or guardians of scholars enrolled with Selma City Schools are asked to complete and return this Commitment Form no later than Wednesday, January 6, 2021.  The selected learning option requires a third quarter commitment which can be reconsidered before March 1, 2021.

IN-PERSON/BLENDED LEARNING
In-person/blended learning will begin in January with PreK- 3 and grades 7-8 starting Jan. 19th. Grades 4-6 and 9-12 will begin Jan. 25th. In-person/blended learning instruction includes 2 days in-person and 3 days remote. Schools will provide the in-person learning days (Mon/Wed or Tue/Thu) by Friday, January 8, 2021.The blended schedule for in-person learning was developed to maximize social distancing. When phase-in by grade levels begin, scholars will continue with remote learning until it is their turn to phase back in. The school uniform requirement has been waived for the 2020-2021 school year to ease the burden from the current pandemic.

VIRTUAL LEARNING  
Scholars can only select to remain virtual in good academic and attendance standing. There will be a virtual orientation planned to provide additional information. The school day hours will vary, but regular attendance is required and will be monitored. Before making a selection, consider the updated requirements for virtual learning.

Academic and Attendance Requirement for Virtual Learning
Scholars must be in good academic standing with an 80/B in each core subject and elective.
Scholars cannot be truant having missed six or more unexcused absences this school term.
Scholars will have to report to campus for diagnostic and spring testing.
Scholars will have to maintain good academic and attendance standings based on the above criteria.
