This camp is open to girls and girl-identifying youth rising grades 1st- 8th, any skill level. There are only 12% females in tournament chess in the U.S. I'd like to offer a camp where girls can feel confident in participating in a welcoming environment, and hopefully we can get more girls in chess! Beginners are always welcome. Children will practice:

+problem-solving and planning skills

+learning how to win and lose with dignity and grace

+tactics tailored to skill level

+common checkmate patterns

+chess player history and geography, especially female players

+psychology in chess

+opening ideas

+how to make a plan

+studying Grandmaster games

+reviewing games played by students

We meet every day from 9am-11am with a break for yoga and stretching.
