Parents/Guardians of Incoming 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students:

Ardsley High School is allowing students in grades 9-12 to opt-in to a Bring Your Own Device program (BYOD) for the upcoming school year.  Ardsley High School will be requiring all students to have a 1:1 device daily each day in class and to use at home for learning, so students will have the option to utilize their own device under this program.  We understand that many high school students have a preferred laptop or other portable device and encourage them to utilize these devices if they will better suit their learning needs  (please note a smartphone is not considered a 1:1 device for the purposes of instruction and might be used in addition to a laptop or other comparable device).  Students who do not opt-in to the BYOD program will be issued a District Chromebook.  


Please read the following information carefully. It is agreed and understood that:

* Students not accepting an Ardsley Chromebook are responsible for bringing their own working device every day in order to participate in classroom activities; complete class assignments; and take state tests.

* Tablet devices (iPads, Kindle Fires, etc.), smartphones, and gaming systems are not effective devices in our learning environment.

* Assignments or tests will not be modified to accommodate issues with personally owned devices.

* The district will not provide technical support for students who use their own device.

* Students must agree to the Acceptable Use Policy and Chromebook Usage Agreement.

* Students must agree to login into Chrome using their school email address.

* Students must allow teachers to enable Classroom Orchestrator on their devices.

* The district does not accept any liability for personal devices used at school. It is the student’s responsibility to properly care for and store the device while at school.
