J-Challenge 2: Broadcast Feature Story
Submit J-Challenge 2: Broadcast Feature Story Submission here.

Contest Category/Topic: Working through COVID-19.
Covid-19 has created many challenges to routine and procedures, but throughout it, schools and programs have adjusted. Create a broadcast feature story detailing how your school, an individual, a program, or a group or team has adjusted to COVID-19 and are striving to make it work.

Deadline: December 31, 2020 by midnight.

Guidelines and Rules:
- Current 2020-2021 MIPA members may enter the contest for free. There is, as with all MIPA contests, no entry fee to enter for members. MIPA dues cover this contest. At this time, due to the challenges Covid-19 has placed on the year, Missouri journalism K-12 programs who are not members may submit entries for a $10 fee. Each entry has a $10 fee. Please make checks payable to MIPA and send them to MIPA, P.O. Box 1114, Columbia, MO 65205.
- Topics will be of a nature that students will be able to use the products created for the challenge in their student publication(s) in the future.
- Students will have until midnight, on the dates included for each challenge, to complete the task(s) assigned in their chosen category on their own with minimal assistance from their adviser(s).
- Time spans for production of the challenges vary. Pay close attention to deadline dates.
- Each category will be judged; and a First, Second, and Third place will be given, unless the judge decides otherwise. First, Second, and Third place winners from each category and each contest will be entered into a drawing once all challenges have been completed for a chance to win a $100 VISA gift card.
- Winners will be recognized online through the MIPA ListServe, MIPA website and featured in the J-Day Slideshow.
- Upon winning, email a picture of the winners to Leigh Rogers at lerogers@hermann.k12.mo.us.
- Students will be disqualified if copyright is violated, category requirements are not met, or it is found out that content used was not written, recorded, created, etc. during the time period. Content should be original and adhere to those dates.
- Category will be emailed through MIPA ListServ.
- Each publication from a school may submit one entry. Students may compete in teams of two, three, four, or five students. If a school has multiple publications, but only one student from each publication is interested in the competition, teams may cross staffs.
- Feedback will be available for the first, second, and third place winners.
- Broadcast Feature Story length requirement: Between 3-5 minutes.
- Submission formats: YouTube or website link (be sure to review your privacy settings: make sure they are open to the public).
