Spring 2023 Memoir Workshop
Talofa everyone,

The GIDP in Social, Cultural, and Critical Theory has just approved a proposal for an interdisciplinary workshop for this spring semester, and I am writing to cordially invite anyone interested in participating!

Workshop description:

Academic Fissures Memoir Workshop

Academic Fissures started as an informal reading group where participants chose, read, and discussed additional theory outside of their courses. It has since evolved into reading and writing critical/creative works and discussing these texts alongside our own ontologies. There is power in storytelling. In the spirit of SCCT’s interdisciplinarity, the memoir workshop will lead to a culminating collaborative memoir/critical essay that will be published (journal, zine, website, book, etc., format to be determined). Together, we will seek to create and archive our experiences in graduate school while also applying the theory we read— and have read— to our own praxis. Together, we will create as people/friends/scholars/ancestors/thinkers/children/students/teachers: creating space for our ideas, stories, pasts and futures, to take shape together.

If you are interested, please fill out this form by January 18th and we will follow up in the following week with an email.

All the best to you all as the semester begins 🌊
