Camp Under the Stars is a nonprofit overnight summer camp for ages 5-17. We are located in the Prince William Forest National Park in Dumfries, Virginia.
Our mission is to provide a supportive, inclusive camp community that values each child's uniqueness, celebrates our differences, and respects nature and the planet. camp@underthestarsinc.org
Host families are needed to host camp staff from the UK and Poland.
- Host families are needed June 21-23. (June 26-28 is no longer needed.)
- Pickup: Host families will pick up camp staff from Dulles Airport or a DC Metro station.
- Dropoff: Host families will drop off camp staff at camp or at a DC Metro station.
- Host families are also needed at various times throughout the summer.
Host family requirements:
- Host families are willing to provide a welcoming space for camp staff and help them to feel comfortable.
- Host families will have a comfortable place for camp staff to sleep. This can be a bed, futon, or air mattress.
- Host families will provide meals and snacks for camp staff while hosting.
- Host families will provide access to Wi-Fi.
- Host families will transport camp staff and their luggage from Dulles Airport or a DC Metro station to their home and then to camp or a DC Metro station.
- All members of the host family's household, including any visitors, must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and willing to take COVID tests as needed. (All camp staff have received the COVID-19 vaccine and at least one booster.)
- All members of the host family's household, including any visitors, must be non-smokers. (All camp staff are non-smokers.)
Other information:
- Camp staff may want some time to relax and get used to the time change.
- Camp staff may want to visit a local store to purchase toiletries and camp supplies.
- Camp staff may want to connect to Wi-Fi to communicate with family and friends and let them know they have arrived safely.
