RSVP - Kansas River Trash and Tire Cleanup
Join Friends of the Kaw and our partners to remove trash and tires from a Kansas River sandbar in Shawnee, KS!

Saturday, October 16, 2021
8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Shawnee Riverfront Park
5500 Frisbie Rd.
Shawnee, KS

During the cleanup, most volunteers will remove trash from the sandbar and riverbank.  A number of tires have also been lodged in the sandbar for many years and it's time to get them out.  Volunteers will dig the tires out of the sand and help load them on to equipment provided by the Evergy Green Team who will haul them to a dumpster for disposal.

Lunch will be provided by Kansas Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, WaterOne, and Walton's.  We'll even have a gift bag or two for some lucky volunteers!

An RSVP is required.  Please enter your information below.  Wear sturdy shoes, sunscreen and clothes that can get dirty.  Bring work gloves, water to drink, and a shovel or other tools that can be used to dig in the sand.

This will be a rewading and fun event, but it is not for young children or for adults who are not physically fit.  Volunteers must be able to walk long distances and dig or lift heavy tires or trash.  Children age 14 and up welcome with a parent or guardian.
