* Volunteer Responsibilities
1. Consistency is crucial, especially when working with special needs students.

2. Attendance Policy:
    1) A total of 3 Excused Absences are allowed. Make sure to fill out the attendance form.
    2) 2 Tardies/Early Dismissals are counted as 1 Absence. Make sure to fill out the attendance form.
    3) To have absences excused, you are required to notify your class teacher and fill out an attendance form beforehand. Documentation such as a doctor's note or a school teacher's note will be required. If you know you will be absent for an extended period of time due to school events, you will need to notify and work with the Volunteer Coordinator to figure out a schedule that works with everyone involved.
    4) Fill out the attendance form at least 24 hours before your class starts.
    5) Each volunteer's attendance and time will be recorded for all events and sessions. It will be used as proof for volunteer service hours.
    6) In case of an emergency, you will need to report to the teachers and follow their instructions.
    7) Attendance at ALL EVENTS is MANDATORY for all volunteers.
    8) LEADERS are expected to have no absences. In case of emergencies, leaders are required to delegate their responsibilities beforehand.
    9) Consistency is crucial in working with people with special needs; therefore, being tardy and/or absent will not be acceptable. If you are excused absences more than 3 times, you may be automatically withdrawn from the program, losing eligibility to volunteer with AMASE.

3. Behavior Policy:
Working with special needs students requires diligence and patience, so we ask for your thorough commitment and dedication. If at any time a volunteer acts inappropriately or does not live up to his or her responsibilities, the volunteer and his/her parents will be first provided with a warning. Any subsequent violation of the code of conduct will lead to the volunteer's withdrawal from the program.

4. Confidentiality
All information concerning anyone with a disability is strictly confidential, and thus may not be shared with anyone and/or discussed at any time, except for the following situations: parent-to-volunteer, parent-to-teacher, and teacher-to-volunteer.

All of our volunteers had signed a form regarding non-disclosing students and AMASE information at the time when they joined AMASE, including the volunteer involved in the survey paper.  We will continue to train our volunteers to emphasize the importance of keeping all AMASE information confidential and shall never release it without consent on social media platforms.

We hold off all survey requests for the time being, as we are going to review our policy and practice to ensure our students and their family are protected.

5. Phone Usage
Please limit phone usage while volunteering and focus on interacting with students. In the case of an emergency, it is okay to use your device but please put it away as soon as you are finished.

6. COVID-19 Policy
Masks are highly recommended during in-person classes and indoor gatherings. Please note that AMASE does not require students, volunteers, or teachers to be vaccinated in order to participate, so you are responsible to keep yourself and others safe. If you do not feel well, notify your teacher in advance and fill out the Absence Form.

5. Notify Any Changes
Volunteers are required to notify the staff of any changes in contact information (i.e., emergency contact, home address, telephone number(s), email address)

7. Pay the yearly registration fee of $50 for the upkeep of AMASE (it is not a donation).
