We are pleased that you are interested in assisting us in rescuing a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon.  There are some points that you should be aware of before you make your final decision.

Since the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon is a high-energy hunting dog, our first effort is to place our rescues in hunting homes when it is appropriate for the dog.  However, sometimes a rescue Wirehaired Pointing Griffon may not have any desire to hunt due to prior circumstances. For this reason we look for a variety of active homes.  There is always a conscious effort to match the right dog to the right home.  You need to be ready to provide a rescue WPG with plenty of exercise. They are loyal, people loving dogs who do not do well in a kennel, on a run, or away from "their" people. They need active owners who include them in all activities.

All of our rescued WPG are either neutered or spayed and microchipped before adoption. You are, as the adopter, will be responsible for expenses charged by the shelter where the dog is located, neuter/spay expense, microchipping, vet fees, foster home medical expenses and any other expenses incurred for the rescue of your Griffon. You will be also responsible for all the transportation cost involved in the Griffon’s relocation.  There is also a flat $130.00 fee to the American Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Association Rescue to help defray the cost of your Griffon’s adoption.

Unlike other breeds, on average we receive less than 30 WPGs per year.  When we have a rescue, often the dog is in a kill shelter and must be moved immediately.  It is for this reason you must be ready to make an immediate decision when called about an available rescue.  We will have matched the key elements of your application with the Griffon’s evaluation prior to calling you.  After reviewing this information, should you have any questions prior to beginning the application process, please contact us at awpgarescue@gmail.com.  If you wish to be considered for a rescued Wirehaired Pointing Griffon from AWPGA Rescue, please complete the following adoption application for our review.
