This class will teach kids about body safety and consent. By building these skills early, we can help kids to grow up with an understanding of what is and is not safe, being able to assert themselves, and knowing how to get help. This reduces risk of sexual exploitation, increases autonomy, and builds self-esteem and self-worth, all of which will be important as kids grow up and explore new relationships.
The group is open to neurodivergent kids, or kids with developmental disabilities, ages about 3-7. The books and activities are geared toward this age, but if you feel your child who is slightly older can still benefit and can be safe around younger kids they are welcome to join. Caregiver(s) are asked to remain with their child to help in the learning process and ensure safety of all children.
Children must have Dane County CLTS funding to cover costs.
The group takes place on Monday May 20th, 4:30-5:30 at Monona Public Library (1000 Nichols Rd), in the Forum Room on the lower level.
