𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿:

Torch is looking for a Lead Principal Developer to join our leadership team and help build the premiere digital platform for short-haul freight. The Lead Principal Developer will play a critical role in shaping the direction of our product, engineering architecture, and culture. Ideal candidates are seasoned engineers who are passionate about building innovative software and growing highly productive technical teams.

In this role you will:

• Build new products from the ground up: from early prototyping and architecture through production and maintenance.
• Set technical direction for the company and make foundational decisions for the engineering organization with extensive hands-on coding during the company’s launch.
• Lead the selection of our technology stack, development processes, and methodologies.
• Establish and maintain standards for coding, unit testing, QA and production monitoring.
• Build the engineering function by sourcing and hiring skilled software developers.
• Manage and mentor the growing team – promote a culture of creativity, innovation, and technical excellence.

𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:

• 8+ years of experience in leading the architecture, development and launch of enterprise software.
• Extensive experience building new products from the ground up including: software design across full product life cycles, early prototyping, production and maintenance.
• Track record of growing and managing high-performance engineering teams.
• Technical knowledge of modern software development best-practices, tools, and technologies.
• Experience building scalable systems on AWS, GCP or Azure.
• BS degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• Based in Chicago or willing to relocate.
