Basic Life Support Incoming Instructor Application 2021-22
A BLS instructor for the UCSD BLS Program is responsible for being a health educator capable of certifying individuals with BLS/CPR certification. In addition to teaching courses, instructors also maintain and expand the program through other administrative tasks.

Instructor Position Responsibilities:
-Earn instructor certification during spring or summer 2021
     -Instructor class TBA*
     -Shadow classes
-Starting fall 2021, instruct BLS courses: 3 classes minimum/quarter
     -Set up and tear down before and after each course
     -Supervise, advise, and assess assistant instructors during courses
     -Teach one section per course: Adult BLS, Child BLS, Infant BLS, AED/Choking/Rescue Breaths, Intro/Recap
     -Analyze other incoming instructors, give constructive feedback
     -Proctor student exam
-Attend AED and BLS Program meetings
-Participate in Training Sessions
     -Physical or virtual meetings with training coordinator before each class
     -Regular independent practice of BLS material
-Publicity: Organize chalkboarding/flyering/facebook event for each class

Eligibility:
You must possess a current BLS Provider License from the American Heart Association (AHA). You'll be expected to provide proof of certification if offered a position. A full year commitment is expected. Instructor certification is valid for two years.

*There is a cost associated with the instructor certification course of approximately $250, which each instructor must pay at the time of the course. A potential instructor certification course is offered mid-May. More details will be provided if instructor position is offered.
