DCAPA Call for Nominations
We are accepting nominations for all positions for the 2023 Board of Directors as well as nominations for the chairs of each standing committee as described below. Please submit all nominations by Friday, December 9.

Nominees must be Fellow members of the DCAPA, members of the AAPA, and graduates of an accredited PA program for the duration of their term.

Board of Directors Nominations
Please submit nominations for president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, director-at-large, and AAPA chief delegate. These must be Fellow members of the DCAPA, members of the AAPA, graduates of an accredited PA program, and preferably people who practice in DC.
President
  • Coordinates agenda for membership meetings
  • Presides and maintain order
  • Full report of activities of organization since last membership meeting
  • Set-up forums for discussion
  • Appoints all standing committees and designates each chair, subject to approval of Board of Directors

Vice President
  • Assume duties of president during meetings in their absence
  • Organize and conduct, with assistance of the secretary, the annual elections

  • Keep minutes of all meetings
  • Responsible for organization communications
  • Assist vice president on elections
  • Notify all members of all meetings

  • Maintain accurate records of financial status of organization

  • Liaison between board and all standing committees
  • Submit report of committees at each Board of Directors’ meeting

AAPA Chief Delegate
  • Represents the DCAPA in House of Delegates (HOD) at annual AAPA convention
  • Proposes legislation to the HOD as directed by the Board
  • Reports HOD-related business to the Board
  • Acts on AAPA resolutions in concert with the Board

Chairs for Standing Committees Nominations
Standing committees are expected to hold regular meetings and make reports to the Board as requested by the president. These include the membership, CME, legislative, public relations, and student affairs committees.
Membership Committee Chair
  • Encourage and promote increase of DCAPA membership
  • Coordinates recruitment, retention, and development of members through various activities in the community

  • Coordinate planning of CME conferences for DCAPA
  • Notify members of upcoming CME events
  • Actively pursue sponsorship for CME events
  • Pursue fundraising avenues for holding conferences

Legislative Committee Chair
  • Monitor current legislation and policies that have an effect on DCAPA
  • Coordinate proactive lobbying for improved quality and standards for PAs practicing in DC
  • Encourage membership to take a role in legislative process

Public Relations Committee Chair
  • Review and determine content of DCAPA communications with constituency and outside organizations
  • Coordinate production, content, and updating of website
  • Coordinate with treasurer and association manager to oversee all advertising and advertising requests submitted by outside organizations

Student Affairs Committee Chair
  • Set-up communication with the ARC-PA programs in the District of Columbia
  • Report students’ activities and concerns to the Board of Directors
