TOPIC: THE PIVOT
In the rat race of life, we scurry in one direction through the maze seemingly on autopilot, spinning our wheels and maintaining homeostasis, until… it all comes to a stop. Not a slow brake, but a total abrupt halt. We were all there when toilet paper disappeared from stores, when doors closed for months, when we lost. Lost family, work, the daily school bus run, a sense of predictability, seeing the smile on a stranger’s face in public. With such profound winds of change, what’s next?

That delicate dance you’ve been clumsily scrambling to learn the past few months - that is the pivot. The firm and unyielding changes we all have had to make in the face of the pandemic and societal unrest. This month at Storytellers, talk about what the pivot was for you - maybe it was that business idea you had to abandon for your family to homeschool. Maybe it was the storefront that became an outdoor market. Maybe you’ve kept your pivot foot moving but haven’t found your way yet. Either way, join us at stART Up studios for an evening of storytelling as you explain your about-face.

Our featured storyteller is Koryn Young, the Executive Director of Storytellers Macon. Her passion for storytelling started at the young age of 2 when she realized that words matter. She is still learning the fine art, but will take any opportunity to speak in front of a group with a microphone. Originally from San Dimas, CA, she moved to Staten Island, NY and chilled out there for a bit while she became an adult. Finding her grown up home in Macon, GA brought her a sense of community where she took leadership roles with the Magnolia Soap Box Derby, Bragg Jam Concert Crawl, Developed the Men of Intown Macon Calendar, is a 2012 Leadership Macon alum and continues to volunteer with many local events, simply because they are cool. When she is not planning events or hosting with Storytellers Macon, you can find her as the Engagement Coordinator of Bike Walk Macon, porch sitting with friends and neighbors, hanging with her main man, Nathan, or chilling with her best dog and gal pal, Matilda.
