Dear Nominator,
To support the attendance fellowship application for a student or young researcher in VLDB 2021, some information from the nominator is required. Therefore, we kindly ask you to fill the form below by July 28th, 2021.
Additionally, nominators are kindly asked to send an extra email from their official email-account to:
vldb2021fellowships@gmail.com before July 28th, 2021 with the subject line of the email being "VLDB 2021 Attendance Support Nomination for <name-of-applicant-here>" in which they confirm their nomination of the applicant.
AVAILABLE GRANTS
The VLDB Endowment attendance grants provide financial support to students and young researchers affiliated with universities with limited funding opportunities. Grants have a strong focus on universities in developing countries (as listed by ACM -
https://services.acm.org/public/qj/proflevel/countryListing.cfm?promo=PWEBTOP&form_type=Professional) to attend the VLDB 2021 conference virtually. Nevertheless, students from all over the world are encouraged to apply.
The long-term goal of the program is to encourage talented young scientists to pursue a career in database research. The VLDB Attendance Support Program provides grants for roughly 50 virtual attendees funded by the VLDB Endowment. These will allow free registration for virtual attendees. The free registration amount will be provided by a voucher code at registration time.
ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION CRITERIA
Applicants must be full-time students in good standing (graduate or undergraduate) or postdoctoral fellows/researchers, who are either
* affiliated with universities that do not already have considerable presence at VLDB conferences
or
* have a paper at the conference (or associated events).
Applicants must explicitly state that they do not have any other funding to attend. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate keen interest in database research and are from regions that are under-represented in the database community; presenting a paper accepted at the main conference or the workshops in VLDB 2021 is welcome but not mandatory.
