"IN MANY PARTS OF THE WORLD, WOMEN AND YOUNG GIRLS SUFFER DISFIGURING AND DISABLING INJURIES & TRAUMA, OFTEN THE RESULT OF AN ASSAULT OR ACCIDENT.

MANY OF THESE AFFLICTIONS ARE DUE TO SOCIAL TRADITIONS, A WOMAN’S ETHNIC BACKGROUND, OR SIMPLY DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS THAT RESULT IN BURNS.

RECONSTRUCTING WOMEN INTERNATIONAL IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION SUPPORTED BY A TEAM OF FEMALE SURGEONS FROM AROUND THE  WORLD ADDRESSING THE MEDICAL NEEDS OF THESE WOMEN, WORKING TO RESTORE THEM PHYSICALLY AND HELPING THEM TO RETURN TO  HAPPY AND PRODUCTIVE LIVES.

OUR EVENT: This fundraising and social event will feature free food/drinks, opportunities to socialize with fellow students, residents and staff and a keynote speech by one of our esteemed local plastic surgeons and associate professors! Dr. Nancy Van Laeken will deliver a keynote talk on her previous trips with RWI and the important role this organization plays in these communities. We are so lucky to have her as she is the Director of RWI Canada and Region Program Coordinator for Southern India.
