Dane County Trash Lab Request Form
Thank you for your interest in the Dane County Trash Lab! Created by the Dane County Department of Waste & Renewables in collaboration with the Madison Children’s Museum, the Trash Lab is a mobile exhibit designed to educate and motivate us to create less trash and rethink our relationship with waste. Housed in a fully accessible, 27-foot-long repurposed cargo trailer, the Trash Lab features more than 10 playful interactive stations, engaging stories, and a wealth of data, along with compelling photography and video footage. For more information about the Trash Lab please visit our website for FAQs or find us @renewaste on Instagram to follow us around town! 
 
We typically stay within Dane County in terms of travel, as it is our staff that needs to drive it and drop it off to various events, and longer drive times are not always feasible. In terms of scheduling a Trash Lab visit, we have been scheduling about 2 months out or further, and at least 2 weeks before the visit date.
  
Please fill out the following form to request a  Lab visit, note availability is dependent upon staffing, distance to the host site, and our current scheduled visits. For follow up questions please contact gobster.delaney@countyofdane.com. You will receive a response following your form submission if further clarification is needed, and a calendar confirmation once the event details have been finalized.

Note, Trash Lab staff will drop off the Lab at minimum 30-60 min before the event start time for set up. If earlier arrival is needed, please indicate in your time request. Include below if you'd advise the Lab be dropped off ahead of time or picked up following the event, due to event/area traffic etc.

Expected number of total Trash Lab visitors *
(Multi-day events) Are you interested in or able to have representatives from your organization trained in facilitating Trash Lab guests? While we aim to have our staff at all events for the duration of the visit, volunteer support for multiple day events can help avoid staffing conflicts when scheduling. *
What is the address the Trash Lab will be hosted at? *
Describe the space available for Trash Lab parking at your event.
Note a parking space will be needed for the 27’ long and 8' wide Lab, with room for the towing vehicle to pick up/ drop off. The main entrance to the Lab is from the rear of the trailer, with a pull down ramp/ door. If parking permits/ clearance is needed, they must be confirmed before a visit is scheduled.

Is there access to an outlet for powering the Trash Lab near the parking spot for the visit? While the lab is equipped to run via a mobile solar power unit, outlet access if helpful for back up use. *
Will the appearance of the Trash Lab at your event help advance our mission to spread awareness on sustainable materials management to underserved populations?

Has your organization toured the Dane County Landfill before? If no, please list any barriers that may prevent your organization from visiting.

We love to take photos during our events for the purpose of education and outreach. Please let us know below if you (and if applicable, those you are registering for) are comfortable being in our captured content.
