INTRODUCTION
Thank you for your interest in receiving a grant from Arizona Friends of Tibet, Inc. We will do our best to support organizations in greatest need to the extent that funds are available. The Grants page of our website (https://afot.org/grants.html) highlights the good work of our grantees; please review it before making your application to see if your organization is likely to qualify for consideration.

WHO WE SUPPORT
Arizona Friends of Tibet, Inc. (AFOT) carefully selects organizations and awards grants for the food, housing, educational and spiritual needs of Tibetan monks, nuns, youth and elders. We also support the preservation of Tibetan Buddhist culture and translation of ancient texts. In response to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, we have recently expanded our grants criteria to include organizations providing lifesaving COVID-19 support to our monastics and their lay communities.

CRITERIA
AFOT is able to make grants via other US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and also directly to an international organization’s account. Please note that we are unable to make grants to individuals. If your application is approved and your organization does not have an arrangement to receive funds through a US-based 501(c )(3) nonprofit, AFOT will send the grant via international wire transfer to your organization’s account. It is the applicant’s responsibility to verify that the organization’s account has the appropriate authorization to receive international wire transfers. (For example, an Indian organization’s account must have an FCRA permit.)  

DEADLINES
In general, grant applications for the following year should be submitted by August 15 in order for us to budget funds. The Board of Directors meets quarterly. We create the budget in our September meeting and approve the budget in our December meeting for the following year. (Late submissions or emergencies will be considered to the extent budgeted funds remain available.) In some cases, ongoing projects may be funded for additional years, subject to needs and availability of funds. Annual applications are needed for such consideration.
