The Village Festival in Edinburgh Gardens is an annual institution and a wonderful meeting place for Melbourne’s artistic community. The festival is fundamentally an experimental artistic playground in which new work, new collaborations and new artforms are explored.

Our last festival in 2017 attracted 10 000 people across three days and nights.

In 2019, The Village Festival returns to Edinburgh Gardens. One week after our low-key launch on Facebook, we already have 2600 going/interested and 566 sign-ups. On this basis, we are expecting the festival to be the largest yet, and so we are taking expressions of interest for food vendors. The Village Festival attracts families during the day and young adults at night.

Food vendors need to be available Friday 25 October to Sunday 27 October. Indicative hours (to be confirmed) are 25 October 6pm-midnight; 26 October 12noon-midnight; 27 October 12noon-9pm

We are most interested in small operators with a passion for the food they create by hand. We are keen to showcase a variety of cultural cuisines to reflect Melbourne's diversity. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are likely to be successful. Our festival patrons appreciate good value offerings.

Our approach is to have a smaller number of vendors (no more than 10) who each have an opportunity to make a financial success of the weekend. There will only be one vendor for each main food style. We will negotiate a site fee appropriate to your set-up, but main meal providers can expect a site fee of $1200.
