Application for borrow-camera programs
Hi students,
This is the application for IMAgEN8's 26-week programs for student photographers wanting to capture photographic stories about nature in New Zealand.

- Be an Environmentalist (cost $100)
- Duke of Edinburgh Hillary Award (cost $200)

Tell us why you want to join the program. If selected, IMAgEN8 will loan you a digital SLR camera, conduct workshops and webinars, and give assignments. Learn about auto, aperture priority, shutter priority, manual modes on the camera, learn about composition, aperture, depth of field, quality of light and what makes images stand out. Learn how to use Adobe Photoshop Lightroom to edit and curate your images. There will be photography mentors to guide you, and we will publish your work in our magazines and books. Your best images may even get exhibited!

You can submit this application for cohorts starting in May 2024. Available in Auckland-area only at this time.

Nov 3 1-2pm (or prior) Return camera

In between these workshops and webinars, students will be getting 6 assignments to work on and learning through videos and how-to guides to grow their skills. They will have photography mentors to guide and help them.

1. I will be responsible and careful with the camera that will be in my possession during this program. I will treat the camera with care and return it in the condition I received it. (Note: A digital SLR costs $1200 to replace it so treat it like it is your own camera!)

2. I give permission to IMAgEN8 to use the images I capture without any remuneration expected. IMAgEN8 will use students’ images for promoting our mission and not for commercial gain. They may be used in books, magazines, website, Instagram etc. However, the student retains the right to share their pictures as they wish, print them out or sell them.

3. I will be mindful of my personal safety while undertaking my photography work. IMAgEN8 will not be responsible for any injuries or damages.

4. I will use the camera to capture photographs suitable for the program. I will not capture any images that are not appropriate for my age. IMAgEN8 will not be responsible for content appropriateness of the images I produce.

5. I give permission to IMAgEN8 to use images and videos of me in action during the workshop on our website, social media and other media to promote the work we are doing.

6. I will follow IMAgEN8 teachers’ guidelines and instructions. If I am being disruptive or disrespectful, I may be asked to leave the workshop and program.

7. I will pay the required fees to participate in this program.


8. A parent or caregiver will accompany me on any in-person workshops or mentoring sessions.

9. I will use my own or my parents' desktop or laptop for editing photographs. The machine must be capable of using Photoshop Lightroom (https://lightroom.adobe.com/). I will purchase an Adobe software license for the duration of the program.
