Regenerate Festival - Tape Looping Workshop w/ Alex Lempert - Saturday 25 September - 12:00-14:00
REGISTRATION UNTIL SUNDAY 19 SEPTEMBER 2021

Tape looping - a creative way to generate infinite, sprawling sounds that are completely analog and require no digital technology. A tape loop is a cassette tape that’s been modified to play in an infinite loop. Participants will have a fun, hands-on workshop taking apart old cassettes and recreating new sounds with the tape looping technique.

Alex Lempert is an artist from Lithuania, currently based in Berlin. He is interested in ambient/drone/experimental music, contemporary circus, and the intersection between the two. Besides creating music with Wojtek Swieca in the duo It Sleeps (itsleeps.bandcamp.com), he is currently working on musical composition and sound design for several contemporary circus performances.
Introduced to casette loop making by a friend in 2017, it sparked in him an enduring obsession with looping and manipulating sounds. He loves introducing people to tapeloop making, and believes this technique can be an excellent first step in building one's soundmaking toolbox, as well as a great addition to an existing one.

This workshop will take place in person at Refuge Worldwide (Weserstr. 166, 12045 Berlin) on Saturday 25 September 2021, from 12:00 to 14:00.
