Dear Families, Support Providers, and Caregivers,
Researchers study many topics. To do this we need the help of people who agree to take part a research You are being invited to take part in a research study which will include a survey that should take no more than 10 minutes and will be anonymous. The purpose of this research is to understand the services offered as part of a transition plan on an individual education program (IEP) during COVID and the potential impacts either due to their changes, lack of services, or enhanced services by blending online/telahealth options with in-person services. The purpose of this study is to answer questions related to services from your child's school or 18-21 transition program regarding school services, Vocational Rehabilitation Services, and Related Services.
This survey will focus on transition services under the current legislation and will look at before and after COVID.
Transition services are integral to the legislation Free and Appropriate Education and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (FAPE under IDEA). A primary purpose of IDEA is to ensure that all
children with disabilities have available to them a FAPE that emphasizes special education and related
services designed to meet their unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment, and
independent living. IDEA contains transition services requirements for students with disabilities, which must be addressed in the first IEP to be in effect when the student turns 16, or younger, if determined appropriate by the IEP Team. The Rehabilitation Act authorizes a continuum of services, such as pre-employment transition services, transition services, job placement services, other VR services, and supported employment services for students and youth with disabilities, as appropriate, to secure meaningful careers.
I would appreciate your feedback on this anonymous survey. By completing this survey, you agree to participate anonymously in this research.
