Having Compassionate Conversations
Sponsored by the AISHK Parent Association, Ms Tara Bennett, a Teen Life Coach with The Wild Heart Project will run a session on Thursday 8 August @ 8:30am in the Auditorium on Having Compassionate Conversations with your Teenagers.

Session duration: 90 minutes
 
Compassionate conversations include having empathy, being non-judgmental and helping teens create their own solutions.  It can also include praising a teen on a specific behaviour or communicating your faith in their ability to achieve their personal goals.

TOPICS COVERED

RESILIENCE & WELL-BEING: What does well-being really mean?  The Wheel of Well-being - physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual. Resilience and the learning pit - the importance of failure and making mistakes. Creating the growth mindset in every conversation.  

UNDERSTANDING TEENAGERS: Understanding the pressures teens face today.  How to uncover your teen’s character strengths and values and guide your teens to use them when responding to life.  

UNDERSTANDING TEENAGE BEHAVIOUR: Why do they act like they do? How can parents handle all the changes?  What is happening in the teenage brain?  

COMMUNICATION WITH TEENAGERS: Using the coaching method to communicate with compassion, with an emphasis on how important it is to guide your teenager to solve their own problems.
