Lytle ISD recognizes a need to protect its electronic device investment and its students’ responsibility with district-issued electronic devices. This document outlines the insurance deposit and deductibles for a student’s protection of the electronic device against damage, loss or theft. The insurance deposit is mandatory for all students receiving a LISD owned electronic device. It covers a portion of the cost for electronic device repair and replacement in the event of theft, loss, or damage.

In the event of damage, the student to the school assigned electronic device, the student/parent will be responsible for a deductible of:

$50.00 for 1st repair
$50 for lost or stolen charger
$75.00 for 2nd repair
$100.00 for 3rd repair
$100 for 4th repair and every break thereafter and the student will be placed on check-out status
$300 for any damage that is so extensive that the electronic device is not repairable. This status is determined by the IT Department.

Damage, loss, and theft deductibles will not cover the loss or damage of the electronic device case, charger, or charging cable. Students/Parents will be responsible for the full cost to replace those items.

In the event of loss or theft, a $100 deductible will be required. The student/parent will be responsible for this one-time deductible, and the district will cover the remaining expenses. In cases of theft, vandalism and other criminal acts, the student/parent MUST file a police or fire report. A copy of the police/fire report must be provided to LISD. If the student lost the electronic device, the student will fill out a form with the School Resource Officer/local PD. The deductible will include one replacement of a lost or stolen electronic device. Additional replacements will include the full value of an electronic device replacement.

In accordance with the Texas Education Code Sect. 31.104 paragraph D, if the equipment is not returned in an acceptable condition or paid for, that student may lose privileges to this equipment and may have their records withheld.

I understand that the equipment I am receiving remains the property of this campus should I leave or graduate from Lytle ISD.
I agree to assume financial responsibility if any of the following occur:
Equipment not being returned.
Damage to equipment upon return.
Unauthorized Repair.
