Join the Fair Access to Victim Compensation Campaign
The Fair Access to Victim Compensation is a state-wide campaign that aims to make New York State’s victim compensation laws and policies more equitable and just, by removing barriers victims and survivors face when attempting to collect these life-saving funds. The first bill of the campaign provides a permanent legislative fix that would increase eligibility for vulnerable populations by expanding the law enforcement reporting requirement to remove mandated interaction with law enforcement. If passed, this legislation will provide greater access to victim compensation funds for many overlooked victims of violence, including gun violence victims, domestic violence victims, LGBTQ victims, immigrant victims, and victims of police violence.
