Thank you for your interest in the Vancouver Short Film Festival Programming Pre-Selection Committee!
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL: The Vancouver Short Film Festival (VSFF) is a celebration of Canada’s vibrant community of short film, documentary, and animation artists. Our goal is to elevate talent from British Columbia and connect BC creators to the greater film industry nationwide. By providing an arena for short filmmakers to showcase their films to the public, we help build ties between emerging filmmakers, established professionals, and their local communities.
Vancouver Short Film Festival and the city of Vancouver where we operate is located on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations. For further information on these and other Indigenous territories where we live, work, and create, we invite you to learn more at native-land.ca.
VSFF 2024 is scheduled to take place May 31 - June 2, 2024. Learn more at: vsff.com.
We are proud to have a dedicated, passionate team of volunteers who form our Programming Pre-Selection Committee each year. We are seeking film lovers to join our team!
ABOUT THE ROLE: Pre-Selection Committee members watch and evaluate short films submitted to VSFF for programming consideration. If you love watching films, discussing films, and evaluating artistic works, this role is for you! Screening and evaluations take place remotely, and your schedule can be flexible. Selected Prescreeners will need to attend a (virtual) orientation session on Saturday, February 10. Committee members will be asked to watch (on average) 100 short films. The pre-screening committee will then meet virtually to discuss the films on Saturday, March 16.
Please note this is a volunteer position.
