During the first two weeks of February, we are asking our One City Parents/Grandparents/Caregivers as well as One City staff, volunteers and community supporters to record yourselves reading a culturally relevant book to our scholars (Classrooms: age 2, 3, 4K, 5K, Grade 1 and/or Grade 2).
Books that feature Black main characters, or are written by Black authors, or are illustrated by Black artists are requested.
Throughout the month of February 2021, and for the remainder of this school year, our teachers will play your recording(s) on their classrooms' Smart Board for our students to enjoy. We may also post your recording on our One City YouTube Channel, social media pages and website for other children around the world to enjoy, too.
Your recording should be no longer than 10 minutes.
If you would like to record your video over Zoom with our support, please let us know. If you need help uploading your recording, please contact us. Instructions are below.
We thank you again for volunteering! Any questions/concerns, please contact me, Marilyn Ruffin, VP Family & Community Initiatives, at
