START URI is a full-year, no additional fee, leadership and community-building transition enhancement program. START URI is designed to nurture and affirm identity-focused community, promote academic achievement, support professional readiness, and provide authentic, respectful, student-driven social experiences for autistic individuals.
START participants view themselves as community ambassadors of autism/neurodivergence inclusion, acceptance, and advocacy at URI. START is an application-based, programmatically variable experience that is student-driven. Individuals applying to START evolving program that prioritizes autistic/neurodivergent pride and empowerment. Applicants must hold a personal interest and motivation to apply, and must commit to participation in all components of the program to be considered eligible. Non-participation may result in removal from the program.
By completing this form, you are requesting to participate in a START URI information session. This is not an application for the program The session will not replace/replicate any steps in the formal START URI application process, which will go live on 5/1/2024. Once a START URI information session is completed, an application will be sent to the student. Only the student is permitted to complete any component of the application.
