Hi there! Thanks for your interest in my research, which seeks to address the farm succession crisis in Ontario by focusing on the perspectives of the farmers who are navigating the complexity of career transitions into or out of farming. My main research question is: What do farmers, across career stages, identify as contributing factors to the succession crisis, and how could governments better respond to these concerns?

The three goals of my research are to:

1) Identify the role that federal and provincial policy, programs, and planning strategies play in farmer decision making around transition planning.

2) Identify the needs and opportunities that farmers foresee in their transition processes into and out of agriculture, and the extent to which these needs and opportunities contribute to the succession crisis.

3) Produce information and analysis that could inform a new planning strategy for food systems in Ontario.
