Introduction
The purpose of this research study is to understand how students interact with a teachable robot individually or in pairs, and how these interactions influence their learning.  The data collected and information learned from this study will allow us to create a better design for the teachable robot. We will be recruiting college students to participate in this study. All participants must be 18 years of age or older. If you choose to participate, you will interact with a robot agent related to mathematics problems, either on your own or with another student. You may also answer surveys related to the interactions, answer informal interview questions, and take a math quiz before and after the intervention to assess your domain knowledge. We will ask you questions about your experiences with these tasks.

All data will be anonymized before storing. Data from electronic questionnaires will be stored on university owned filesystem and paper-based study materials will be scanned so they can be revisited as needed. There will be no identifiable information collected in the questionnaires. We will store log data from your interactions as well as audio and video record your interactions. This data will be kept in its original format and will possibly be transcribed. Records of your participation in this study will be held confidential and, if the results are published, we will keep your name and other identifying information confidential. De-identified data may be shared with other researchers.

There is a small risk of breach of confidentiality as identifiers are being collected in some of the data. This data will be stored securely and any contact information will be stored separately from other data. There is also a risk of boredom or frustration while completing a learning task. You may decide to stop participating in the research at any time without penalty. There are no direct benefits to you as a result of participating.

Participants who agree to take part in the study will be paid $10.00/hr with a maximum pay of $20.00 as the study should last about 90-120 minutes.
